Fuji Xerox, one of the worlds largest suppliers of quality office products, launched Xerox Direct in April 2002. This rebranded version of ECOS enables customers to initiate and manage their own purchasing.

Fuji Xerox Office Supplies Marketing Manager, Richard Penny says cost savings and protecting market share were key drivers behind the decision to launch an online procurement facility for Fuji Xerox customers. " For us to grow or even maintain our position in the market it was important for us to offer that service."

The beauty of hosted procurement is that it is transparent and maintained by Blueship, says Mr Penny. "A certain amount of integration to ensure our back-end system talks to the front-end, but hosting was still the best option. We have a big IT department but we were reluctant to invest in developing a system of our own. We also could have spent a lot of time customising an off the shelf system - ECOS was the best option.

Motor Trade Association (MTA) is a professional association with 4,000+ member companies around New Zealand specialising in the motor industry. In mid 2002 MTA launched MTAacquire, a rebranded version of ECOS to provide its members with access to business forms, stationery and industry specific products online.

Danny Garrick, Product Services Manager had this to say about ECOS:'ECOS has introduced new levels of control into our business. The ordering process for our members has been streamlined and is more efficient. The overall result is a reduction in time spent by our staff in administration and an all-round cost saving. Our members now have access to a graphical catalogue, and they can now see what they are purchasing. We plan to expand the product offering in the future.'

Duxton Hotels International manages a deluxe group of hotels with properties internationally and throughout New Zealand.

They use ECOS in their New Zealand operation to manage the purchasing of operational supplies. Using the ECOS system Duxton staff can order products from key suppliers in a controlled fashion.

Martin Wynveld, Financial Controller, Duxton Hotels had this to say about ECOS:
"ECOS has streamlined our departmental ordering and purchasing systems hugely. It has created time savings in the area of manual paper handling and has reduced the actual stock holding of our business enormously."
